Turning Leadership Challenges into Shared Solutions
Last month we ran a poll on LinkedIn asking about your biggest challenges when leading a team
Here's what you shared:
37% - Clear Communication
26% - Employee Engagement and Motivation
21% - Performance Visibility
16% - Building Company Culture
So what now?
We cited in the poll that identifying the problem is the first step. The SECOND step? Sharing your solutions.
As a business leader, you've likely gained valuable insights from past challenges. Now, imagine someone facing that same obstacle RIGHT NOW- how much would it have meant to you back then to have the solution handed to you?
You might find the solution to your challenge here, and your insights could be exactly what someone else needs. So, share your experiences- you never know who you might help!
To kick things off, our CEO, Rob Craig, will go first:
"Earlier in my career at nCino, I grew frustrated when I communicated something to the team and within a week they would seem to forget it. I would take the time in a team meeting to present a new approach to tackling a problem with clear instructions on how to accomplish it, created a fancy slide explaining the details, and even delivered it in a way that I felt was memorable and inspiring. The missing ingredients were repetition and one-on-one conversations to make sure people understood the "why" behind the change.
"Employees at a start up have a million things flying through their heads at all times, and someone forgetting a new process/system/goal doesn't mean they don't care. Both repetition and a personal understanding of the reason behind the change are required for something to be internalized. I'm still working on being consistent on this, but following these two principles have made a world of a difference in my communication and leadership."
The Power of Interdepartmental Sharing
Every challenge you’ve overcome has taught you something valuable. Now, imagine someone facing that same obstacle right now. What if they had access to the insight you gained? How much easier would it have been for you if someone had shared that wisdom when you needed it most?
When leaders openly share their experiences, they create a ripple effect. The struggles you faced and the solutions you discovered can serve as a roadmap for someone else. And sometimes, hearing how others tackled a problem can spark new ideas for your own challenges.
